Fishing Gold Coast

Australian bass are a targeted species in freshwater impoundments. They are an aggressive fish and they strike hard, which equates to plenty of fun for the angler. One of the best fisheries on the Gold Coast is Hinze Dam. Hinze Dam is the Gold Coast's water supply and this pristine environment is something everyone should experience. The predominant species caught at Hinze Dam is Australian bass. The Dam is also stocked with Golden Perch, Saratoga, Silver Perch and Mary River Cod. Fishing in the majestic setting of Hinze Dam will have you totally relaxed. Sports Tuition offers a fantastic service which includes; the use of Quintrex boats and Rosco Bass Catcher canoes, which are all powered by Minn Kota electric motors, all fishing equipment, live shrimp for bait, fishing permit and fishing guide. Hinze Dam is an electric motor only fishery and it's a very peaceful form of fishing. The environment is suited to the whole family; with young children being most welcome...they can even drive the boat, which they love! Fishing sessions on the water are tailored to individual or group needs and starting times vary accordingly. Sports Tuition offers ½ Day & Full Day Fishing Charters and Extended Fishing Tours. Extended tours have participants accommodated overnight on the Dam in the form of cabin accommodation or in tents as part of an Australian Camping & Fishing Adventure. All camping equipment is provided. For all extended tours, participants have the opportunity to learn how to fillet the fish and prepare it for dinner. Packages may consist entirely of fishing time on the water or a combination of fishing with workshops on knots & rigs, soft plastics, lures, fish filleting and learning the art of fly-casting. Adventure packages are also available which include the fishing with an option to also include horse riding, flying fox, abseiling, high ropes or hiking. Sightseeing tours are also available for those not wishing to fish. Sports Tuition can cater for up to 45 guests. Morning tea/afternoon tea is served on the water during the ½ day charters, with lunch also included for full day charters. The Head Fishing Guide is Steve Wilkes. Steve is a fishing journalist and regularly presents as a key note speaker at conferences and international fishing shows. Hinze Dam is located about 15 kilometres southwest from central Nerang, which is approximately 30 minutes from Surfers Paradise. For tourists staying on the coast, hotel transfers can be arranged on request.
